Created more than 60 years ago, the hoist of the american company CM is still evolving. After a major improvement occuring in 2011 with the arrival of a new generation dedicated to the European market and a new D8+ motor shaft, CM now introduce a new serie of improvements for the Lodestar and an IP-rating of 66 that will even more increase its reliability and longevity.
The new hoist Lodestar resists to every types of infiltrations, solid or liquide. To this end, the passage of the cables has been redesigned with a slight modification on its housing. The passage of cables is sealed by cable gland IP68, making impossible the infiltration of water. To prevent infiltration of water flowing along the chain, O-rings have been added to the liftwheel bearing.
Continuous seals have been mounted into the different elements of the housing to create a barrier with the external elements. Nevertheless, the hoist dimensions almost did not changed and the flight case designed for the New Lodestar in 2011 can still be used.
Thanks to its IP-rating,the Lodestar is the perfect hoist for an outdoor use, even in extreme conditions. Whether it rains abundantely in a festival or whether it is used for a beach stage, the hoist does not risk infiltration of water or sand - elements usually very damaging for electro-mecanical fixtures.
In a general way, to this infiltration resistance results a longer lifespan, much lesser risks of oxidation or fouling and no accumulation of particules inside the motor.
In 2011, CM has introduced a new generation of the Lodestar range, dedicated to the European Market. This range offers more resistant hoists, with smoother operations and consequently quieter. The Lodestar is also safer and compliant with the D8+ standard thanks to its new double brake and its new clutch, which is no more located between the load and the brake as the standard specify it.
